Almost ready for take off on Bahamas Int Airport..
April 2012 The smoke -left hand side of picture- coming from the garbage dumpster in Nassau, They Burn their garbage, including plastic -which is terrible- and anything else. Sad they do not recycle anything they simply; BURN IT, producing many terrible fumes and gases that are not good for anybody to be inhaling them daily. This went on for 4 or 5 days non-stop by the way.
I had to take a picture and at least comment on it. The island is too beautiful to still in 2012- be doing these types of old method Trash/Rubbish burning or whoever you call it.
Everything or most of it 98% I bet (food, drinks packaged foods) is Imported to the island, they should at least export the recyclable materials on the ships -on the Cargo side- that go back to the US -daily- and sell the recyclable materials there... It's not that difficult FYI.
Look as if the runway was on fire.. .. it's worse.. Garbage/Plastic On Fire
Another burning of who knows what around the Bahamas... Probably something for a development, who knows... You can see the thin layer of smoke in the SKY... Sad!
So it's Earth Month in April every year, everywhere in the world.
When I returned from a long time staying in The Bahamas to the Unites States, in my luggage I only packed empty containers/magazines, anything that is recyclable. Magazines I had already read, Plastic containers that were empty from my moisturizers/Shampoo/Conditioners you name it, and so on. My piece of luggage was filled with empty plastic containers and paper products.. I did not want it to get "burned" literally in the Bahamas...But recycled like it should be in the year 2012. It's not that I wanted to do it or is my favorite pass time in the world, but we have to give something back.
